Via this series you will discover contemporary portraits using traditional techniques like canvas oil or digital paintings on the computer.

During the portraiture of a person I try to get a truthful representation with the most important goal being the transfer of an ‘impression of feelings’ towards the viewer. Expression, creative strokes and details are just as important as likeness to contribute to this impression.

Our daily lives are increasingly being directed by technology. The evolution of technology can no longer be stopped and increases exponentially. The speed of evolution is so high that no one can properly predict what the outcome will be.

Artificial intelligence, robotics, gene editing, internet of things … the digital waves are unstoppable. Will humanity drown or surf into a better world while standing on the wave?

In the serene expanse of a natural pond, I find inspiration amidst the tranquil reflections of sky and foliage, capturing the eternal dance of light and shadow on its shimmering surface.

Within our watery realm, the delicate lilies sway in harmony with the gentle ripples, their vibrant petals mirroring the vibrant hues of the surrounding landscape.

It is here, amidst the whispers of reeds and the song of distant birds, that the beauty of nature reveals itself in all its splendor—a timeless symphony of life and tranquility that stirs the hearts of artists and poets alike.

In this art series I introspect people’s feelings and depict the bleeding of their inner soul.

In nature, there exists a dance as ancient as time itself — a waltz between creation and dissolution, between beauty and decay. Within this eternal symphony, the process of decay unveils its tender poetry, as the vibrant hues of life gradually yield to the gentle embrace of time. Like delicate petals falling from a rose in bloom, the once-lustrous tapestry of existence fades into the embrace of the earth, surrendering to the cycle of renewal that defines the very essence of life.

Yet, amidst this melancholic elegy, there lies a profound truth — a truth that resonates deeply within the human soul and inspires the hearts of artists throughout the ages. For in the delicate tendrils of decay, they find not despair, but rather, a profound source of inspiration — a testament to the impermanence of all things, and the timeless beauty that arises from the passage of time.

Through the lens of the artist’s gaze, the process of decay becomes a poignant meditation on the transient nature of existence — a reminder of the fragility of life. This series includes modern, expressive works on the theme of sparkling love and its origins.

The theme encompasses the concept of “seeds of love” that shoot from the mother’s heart and soon a network of roots and hearts swirls around us. And possibly within us?

“Wild growth” one could say? Possibly. No idea. Let the heart speak. The truth follows from itself.

Untamed nature, with its raw beauty and unfettered spirit, beckons to the depths of our souls and reminds us of our humble place in existence.

Amid the symphony of birdsong and rustling leaves, we are humbled by the enormity of the universe, finding renewal and inspiration in the unbridled majesty of the natural world. But beyond this reverence lies a poignant reminder of our fragility and transience as we witness the eternal cycle of birth, growth, decay and rebirth that mirrors our own journey through life.

So in the embrace of wild nature we are both elevated and humbled, finding solace, perspective, and a deeper connection with the vast and mysterious cosmos that surrounds us.

Taking a living model as the basis, the contours of the naked body are given a place in space and this with attention to shape, light and shadow.

This series mainly features charcoal & acrylics work from my course ‘model drawing’ at the academy of Sint-Niklaas.

The underwater world of fish has always fascinated me since childhood. Soon you discover that fish have complex relationships and lives with a whole range of corresponding feelings and behaviors.

In this series I try to portray the beauty of fish in combination with their (human) feelings. I often use a loose, expressive brush stroke in these works.

“FlowerHeads”, a movement grown as a desire to return to the roots of the human-nature symbiosis, born from a revolt against the ruthless pursuit of mankind to become gods by embracing the machines & technological advances. Through the same advanced technology, seeds are implanted in the head and body and are nurtured to grown, thus creating the next counter revolution in transhumans evolution.

Technologists … weird technological humanoids wander the lands. Sometimes helpfull but most of the times violent and in a destructive rage against those that come in their neigbourhood. Angel or Demon ? You never know for sure until you come to close.
