Waves - Isolation

Rising in her digital self ... alone in this world

Charcoal Drawing, 2016

Description

This work reflects the isolation and accompanying loneliness that each of us creates - consciously or not - through the use of 'smart phones' and other digital technology.

We are sitting on our own virtual islands - here in the work represented by granite blocks - on which we shout our feelings through our digital extensions and then we wait for digital waves ... hoping for a reaction from the world.

The digital blocks are inaccessible to others ... hardly big enough to put ourselves on ... floating in nothing we are surrounded by millions of other blocks ... full of lonely souls.
